Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity (GFSEC)

Established in 2016 at the initiative of the G20, the Global Forum on Steel Excess Capacity (GFSEC) is an international forum dedicated to addressing global steel overcapacity and promoting transparent and competitive markets.

The Forum has 28 members, including Austria, the European Union, the United States, Japan, Korea, Canada, the United Kingdom, Switzerland and Türkiye.

The OECD serves as the Host and Facilitator of the Forum, supporting its members through analysis, monitoring and the exchange of views and experiences on common policy approaches.

The GFSEC holds annual ministerial meetings on the margins of the G20 Trade Ministers’ Meetings.
