Cluster Life Sciences Tirol: Together Towards an Innovation Hub: Cluster Life Sciences and Health Hub Tirol
Date: 12.02.2026
Thematic focus: EU Activities and Internationalisation
With the opening of the Health Hub Tirol in Innsbruck’s West Park, the Life Sciences location Tirol has gained a central hub for innovation, growth, and international networking. The Health Hub program offers modern laboratory and office infrastructure, advisory services, and access to investor networks and funding opportunities. Across 4,000 m2, startups, spin-offs, and young companies from biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, and e-health find optimal conditions to accelerate the translation of ideas into market-ready solutions.
The fact that the Health Hub Tirol has become a reality today is closely linked to the Cluster Life Sciences Tirol. The idea for its establishment originated within the cluster’s advisory board. The goal was to build a strong Life Sciences ecosystem in Tirol and, in particular, to provide young companies with the infrastructure needed for research and development. A study initiated by the cluster confirmed, among other things, the significant demand for laboratory space – an important gap that has now been closed with the Health Hub Tirol.
Today, the Cluster Life Sciences Tirol connects nearly 100 innovative companies, institutions, and universities in the fields of biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, e-health, as well as research and education. It is part of the Tirol Cluster Network, which also includes the clusters IT Tirol, Renewable Energy Tirol, kreativland.tirol, Wellness & Wellbeing Tirol, and Mechatronics Tirol. This dynamic network forms the foundation on which the Health Hub Tirol builds and further strengthens the existing ecosystem.
The Health Hub Tirol is therefore much more than just a building: it accelerates spin-offs, promotes knowledge transfer between science and industry, and keeps value creation within the region. In an industry characterized by long development cycles and high investment requirements, it creates essential framework conditions for sustainable growth. A clear proof of success: two companies based at the Health Hub Tirol – Cyprumed and Akedis/Synedra – have already achieved international breakthroughs. Cyprumed secured a €500 million deal with the US pharmaceutical company MSD, while Akedis and Synedra have been providing their IT expertise to the healthcare division of Deutsche Telekom since October 2025.
