Craftsman bonus

The economic recession poses considerable challenges for craft businesses. The decline in demand, rising costs and financing difficulties are putting a strain on the industry. The craftsmen's bonus as part of the "Housing and construction offensive" economic stimulus package is intended to provide financial support for the use of work services in connection with the renovation, maintenance, modernization, creation and expansion of privately used housing and living space in Austria. The corresponding legal basis was adopted with the Federal Act on the Promotion of Craftsmen's Services on April 24, 2024.

It has been possible to apply for the craftsmen's bonus since July 15, 2024. The 2025 funding period has been running since March 1, 2025. Applications can be submitted via the website www.handwerkerbonus.gv.at.

With the craftsman bonus, private individuals receive funding for work carried out in the private home and living area. The craftsmen's bonus offers the opportunity to be reimbursed 20 percent of the net work costs up to a funding amount of EUR 1,500 per person and residential address (main or secondary residence). Only 1 application (with several invoices) can be submitted per person and calendar year.

A total of 300 million euros in funding is available for the years 2024/25 to strengthen the construction industry and create incentives for commissioning tradesmen's services.

The craftsmen's bonus is an important contribution to boosting the construction industry and supporting craftsmen's businesses and their customers. All information about the funding is available at www.handwerkerbonus.gv.at.
